Attitude Adjustment

Losing weight…..

Just the thought of it gets people on edge, they think yea, but I hate the thought of being hungry, I hate the awful low fat food, I hate counting calories. Then the excuses come…..I have no time to do it, a birthday’s coming, a holiday’s coming, I can’t diet then, diets don’t work anyway. I’ll do this later. I’d rather be fat and happy.

Attitude adjustment! What about being thin and happy, or thin, healthy and happy, or thin and healthy!

What about a new way of thinking about food! It’s not only the high fat foods that taste good, you can make creamy, luscious food with little fat and the right recipe, but if you really still want the fat, what’s wrong with using good fats. Science is very clear now, if you take fat completely out of your diet, what happens…you’re body responds and gets fatter. The big difference in eating good fat and cutting out the bad fat is how you feel,…how about having more energy and feeling happier. Hey, I like that!

I came upon a great Healthy for Life program which was started by Dr. Ray Strand, MD. He even has a book called Healthy for Life which is the text book for the program. He specializes in Diabetes and he discovered, through many clinical trials at the University of Colorado, how to help people get thin healthy and happy. In other words, he reversed their Type 2 Diabetic symptoms and got them off drugs. I’m a Type 1 and I’ve been following his program for 3 months now and I’m happy to say, that I’m full, healthy and happy with it. I’m loving the food. I get to eat things like Dijon Chicken, Broccoli Walnut Salad, and Apple Custard Crumble.

The whole program is about learning what Glycemic Index and Glycemic Load is and why that’s so important. With the book and weight loss experts on DVD, you learn what happens in your body when we continually spike our blood sugar. We also learn what foods are the healthier Low Glycemic ones, what fats are the good ones, what meat and protein are the good ones and eating them…eating so much, you stay full, which is what I really like...did I mention that before? It’s also quite amazing to realize how much better you start feeling, almost like a weight is lifted off your shoulders. I used to have an allergy; it went away a couple of months into the program.

Exercise is of course, part of losing weight and it’s individual, in other words, do what you like to do and as you start feeling better, you can do more.

It’s fun to try different recipes and find the ones you like. When your family tries them too and also likes them, you know you’re feeding them something that tastes good and is good for them. The proud, happy feeling you get, kind of makes you feel like dancing-hahaha! And the side effect of the whole program is weight loss! I can dance some more!!!
